The Tigers start the super 12 campaign with a thrilling win against the Orange Caps by 9 Runs.
Winning the toss Netherland skipper put Bangladesh to bat first due to the overcast conditions, in the Group 2 clash at the Bellerive Oval on Monday, October 24. The Netherlands is one most promising teams who have made their way from stage 1 to super 12. The Dutch made two changes, the veteran spinner Roelof van der Merwe gets out of injury. He was replaced by Shariz Ahmad and Logan van Beek comes in place of Timm Van der Gugten.
The opers provided a good start to Bangladesh scoring quick 40 runs in 4 overs. After then they lost their first wicket in the form of Soumya Sarkar. The important dismissal of Soumya Sarkar boost the level of confidence for the Dutch bowlers from where they picked another wicket. The Dutch discipline bowling attack restricted the Tigers to a fighting total of 144. Afif Hossain was the top scorer for Bangladesh scoring 38 valuable runs in 27 balls accompanied by Mosadeek Hossain who made 20(12).
Chasing the target The Orange Caps lost some early wickets. Taskin Ahmed claimed two wickets in his first two deliveries. They lost their 4 wickets in just 15 runs. None of their batters was seen in control. The Bangladeshi bowlers hardly gave the time to settle them on the crease for which they kept on losing wickets regularly. The only person who fought alone with the bat from one end was Colin Ackermann. He batted from the first over and stayed till the 17th. He made 62 of 48 deliveries.
The Dutch players took the game to the last over giving their best and in the end, they lost by 9 runs.
Taskin Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh. He took 4 wickets in his spell of four overs and gave 25 runs.
With this win, Bangladesh takes 2 points in the point table with +0.450 NRR.
