South Africa won by 104 runs against Bangladesh in their second Group 2 match in the Super 12, in Sydney on October 27.
The South Africans were very unlucky in their last match against Zimbabwe when the left-hand opener Quinton de cock played a fiery inning to put South Africa almost on the edge of victory but, suddenly the rain interrupts and spoils their victory that results in saving the Zimbabwean team from defeat. Meanwhile, Having a win under their belt against the Netherlands in the previous match team Bangladesh is now all set for today's match. It is a big match for both teams to keep themselves alive in the game.
Winning the toss South Africa opted to bat first keeping the weather conditions in mind. Their skipper Temba Bavuma got out early and after then it was all the 33-year-old Rossouw's show. Riley Rossouw today showcased his all-batting skills with a powerful knock of 109 in 59 balls. While de-cock made 63 in 38 balls.
They put a massive total of 205 for 5. For Bangladesh Sakib Al Hasan took two wickets along with Afif Hossain and Hasan Mahmud got one each. While chasing the 200-plus score Bangladesh got off to a poor start. Nortje took two wickets in his opening over sending both their openers back to the dressing room.
They bowled out Bangladesh for 101 runs in 16.3 overs. The Proteas today displayed top-class bowling, especially the pace attack from Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje blew out the Bangladeshi batters. Tabraiz Shamsi also showed his magic by claiming three wickets but it was all Anrich Nortje’s first over that had shifted the momentum. He ended with a four-wicket haul, so far his best T20I figures.
This was a comprehensive win for them because both the batters and bowlers delivered.
