Chasing the target of 179 runs, They put on an opening stand of 18 runs within just two overs but the Australian bowlers made a quick comeback and destroyed Ireland's top and middle order completely.
Andrew Balbirnie, Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, and George Dockrell, all fell quick inside the opening four overs of the bowling powerplay. Irish hopes of reaching the semi-finals were blown away by the Aussie pacers.
They lost half of their side by under 25 runs.
At one point it seemed that the match would finish very early but a brave inning from Lauren Tucker kept the match alive till the end. He built some small partnerships with Haider and Delaney trying till the last moment but couldn't get enough support from the other side. At last, his effort went in vain. He smashed 71* from 48 deliveries and remained unbeaten till the end. Australia showed the perfect display of swing bowling. Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa took two-wicket hauls for Australia. However, Tucker's unbeaten 71 has damaged the Aussies NRR.
The Aussie skipper Aron Finch won the man of the match award for his 63 runs.
